Learn first-hand about the values of our center and the ten fundamental objectives that we seek to achieve with each of our students.
Dear families:
I am pleased to address you to introduce Greenwich School, a charter school in the Community of Madrid, which is distinguished by its bilingual educational innovation project in English, directed in collaboration with the Alfonso X el Sabio University (UAX). Our commitment is to provide your children with a comprehensive education based on tolerance, freedom and democratic principles of coexistence.
At Greenwich School, we are proud to have a team of highly competent and passionate professionals, from the management team to teachers and administration and services staff. Together, we strive, day after day, to offer quality education that combines bilingualism and internationalization, sports, art, music and information and communication technologies (ICTs), present at all stages, from Education Infant to Secondary.
We are delighted to open the doors of our educational center and invite you to visit our modern facilities, where you can learn more about the resources and teaching aids we use. The innovative design of our classrooms and the pedagogical practices we implement add significant value to your children's teaching-learning process, backed by our years of experience in the educational field.
Our educational model is nourished by collaboration with the Alfonso X El Sabio University (UAX), supported by a faculty of young, experienced and highly trained teachers. We maintain constant communication with families and students, seeking to continually improve our pedagogical approach to promote the development of our students' skills.
We are convinced of successfully achieving ten fundamental objectives at the end of your children's schooling:
- The first, that they acquire logical mathematical learning through chess in the classroom and unconnected robotics in Early Childhood and the manipulative mathematics method called Numicon from Oxford.
- The second, to enhance linguistic communication, together with dialogic learning, critical spirit and humanistic and civic training, with our public speaking and debate clubs in Secondary School, reading clubs and our digital newspaper: We are Greenwich, which will soon see the light of its first number.
- Third, we give great importance to emotional education, with initiatives such as a positive discipline program, puppets and stories with tools to work on emotions with the little ones or our tutorial action plan designed for our Secondary School students, in in which we work on aspects related to self-knowledge, personal motivation, interpersonal relationships, etc.
-
The fourth, attention to diversity and improving coexistence in the classrooms. We are an educational center concerned with working to improve coexistence in the classroom, we have a decalogue of coexistence and a unique project on empathy.
Our Department of Guidance and Attention to Diversity works with our students and families to guarantee an inclusive educational model, with support proposals, curricular enrichment, socio-emotional attention, etc. - The fifth, a commitment to research, culture and the scientific method. In Primary they approach science with our activities in Experimental Sciences. In Secondary School they achieve greater specialization and develop more complex scientific and technological challenges and in high school, starting next school year, they will be able to take, together with UAX teachers, a unique training program that allows them to obtain the Master's degree. Junior UAX that accredits their training in applied research, they can also take the Spanish-North American Dual Baccalaureate with markedly international teaching. Such academic demands are evident in the results obtained at the EBAU, in which 100% of our students taking this test have passed it.
-
The sixth, bilingualism and internationalization, which allow them to have achieved real mastery, spoken and written, of the English language and solid knowledge of other foreign languages (French, German, Mandarin Chinese or Italian) at the end of their school years.
Our students participate in international student mobility programs, Erasmus+ projects, they can prepare official certifications in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), they enjoy conversation classes with native teachers and as a school that is committed to a more Globally we have a European project called EuroGreenwich. - The seventh, economic and financial talent. We have a financial culture program, called Finances for Mortals, a financial education project of the UCEIF Foundation, Foundation of the University of Cantabria for the Study and Research of the Financial Sector, which is developed through the Santander Financial Institute (SANFI).
- The eighth, environmental education. Greenwich School is committed to a sustainable school model. It develops educational programs such as: Naturaliza de Ecoembes; Biodiversity Gardens of the Global Nature Foundation; Waste Hero, reduce to Zero and Recicoles, promoted by the Entreculturas Foundation.
- The ninth, healthy lifestyle habits and reduction of sedentary lifestyle. Our students have a school program to promote the consumption of fruits and vegetables, awareness activities about healthy eating and daily habits, they can practice a large number of sports disciplines such as: swimming, basketball, judo, rhythmic gymnastics, ballet, multisport, etc. . Furthermore, thanks to a collaboration agreement with the Alcobendas City Council we can develop sports activities in the facilities adjacent to the school grounds (Fuentelucha Soccer Field).
-
The tenth, acquisition of digital competence. Our students from the age of 3 develop a Computer Science and Technology program where they learn to create content and work on their skills with digital tools, while learning to make good use of these media and knowing the risks generated by the Internet and Social Networks. , we have a project called Aula Cibersegura (in collaboration with Telefónica Volunteers).
In fact, our classrooms are spaces free of digital devices and one-to-one screens, since we give priority to the teacher-student interpersonal relationship, we want to avoid distractions and we opt for manipulative, creative and enriching reading-writing classroom work methods.
I am convinced that the opportunities and proposals offered by our center will be essential to create a well-prepared generation of young people in charge of transforming and improving our society, which is why I am aware of our responsibility in the education of your children and as an educational center we would love for you to They will trust us to carry out this task.
Thank you very much for visiting us on our website and giving us the opportunity to get to know us.
